ok here goes, not including the pics due to..... er.... effort?
anyway here is my OUTRAGED letter whaddyathink??
***** I realise i sound like an absolute geek, but fuck it
To Whom it may concern,
I received a Charge certificate dated 16/06/2009 this week. It states that a PCN was sent to me on the 30/04/2009 - i have no record of this letter reaching me. I don't know how i could prove this to you, but i would ask you to check any past PCN's i have received and how prompt i have paid them in the past as evidence that i always pay as soon as i can.
the PCN number is - WF81580947
I have now been asked to pay £180, the increased rate. I would like you to take into consideration that this is the first i have heard of this matter.
In the interest of swift resolution i have attached evidence as i would like to appeal against the PCN. The Charge Certificate tells me that the Alegged contravention was Failing to comply with a prohibited turn and it was issued in Station RD/ Connaught Av
The only prohibited turn is a No right Turn into Connaught Ave between 730am-930am. there is also the same prohibited turns into buxton rd and willow rd along station rd in the same direction.
I have attatched a file called Illegal Route, which is the turn i made at 0838, according to the charge certificate.
i have also attatched a file called "Photograph of sign on the wrong side" . and this is the basis of my appeal. The No right hand turn sign is situated After the junction. it is confusing and slightly redundant to have a probitive sign informing you what to do after the junction. Technically this sign applies to the next junction, which would be Buxton rd.
Apart from this technicality, it is a confusing sign. Not only does it appear after the junction- it prevents anyone travelling in that direction from accessing that side of station road. in actual fact you cant access that side of station road between 730am and 930 am from anywhere along the main high street. You would have to have quite a detailed local knowledge to get there. I have attatched a document entitled "Actual Route" which demonstrates this point.
ALSO it is perfectly legal to perform a U-Turn along station road and then turn left into your desired street. So i could have performed a time wasting and potentially dangerous u-turn in the middle of station rd mid-morning and that would have been fine. But what i did was turn right into Connaught avenue and was faced with a confusing road sign which technically is placed improperly.
I have attatched a file named "signs on wrong side" which marks where the signs are placed along station road.
firstly i would like to say again that this is the first i have been informed of the contravention.
secondly the sign is on the wrong side of the junction and confusing
third i dont see any logical reason for right hand turn to be prohibited anyway
and lastly that becaue of these signs, it is perfectly legal to perform time wasting/dangerous u-turns so you can make the desired turn.
